The Singh Family

Built From the Ground Up

Uday Singh arrived in Burnaby in 1991 with a set of hand tools, a trade ticket from Punjab, and a work ethic that would define everything that came after. He spent his first three years as a framing carpenter on residential sites across Metro Vancouver, learning the Lower Mainland's building codes, its rain, its clay soil, and its people.

In 1994, he earned his BC general contractor licence and registered Uday's Construction as a one-man operation. The first contract was a basement renovation in Coquitlam. The client referred him to three more families. Those families did the same. No advertising — just work that spoke for itself.

Today, with his son Rajan managing day-to-day operations and a crew of 25 tradespeople, Uday's Construction serves hundreds of clients annually across Metro Vancouver. The founder is still on-site several times a week. Some things don't change.

Our Journey

Three Decades of Building

1991

Arrived in Burnaby

Uday Singh immigrated from Punjab and began work as a framing carpenter, building expertise on sites across the Lower Mainland.

1994

Uday's Construction Founded

Earned BC general contractor licence. First project: a basement renovation in Coquitlam. Growth through word of mouth alone.

2001

First Custom Home Build

Completed our first ground-up custom home in Langley. Expanded into full design-build services and grew the crew to six tradespeople.

2008

Expanded to Commercial

Added commercial fit-out services. First restaurant build-out in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood — completed three weeks ahead of schedule.

2016

Second Generation Joins

Rajan Singh joined as Operations Manager, bringing modern project software and new client processes while keeping the same hands-on standards.

2024

30 Years & 500+ Projects

Celebrating three decades of building across Metro Vancouver. 25 tradespeople, 500+ completed projects, and the same founding principle: do the work right.

Most of our crew lives in the communities we build in. We hire local, buy local, and care about what these neighbourhoods look like when the scaffolding comes down.

Founder

Uday Singh

30+ years in the trade. Still on-site multiple times a week, still hands-on with every major project. The standard everything is measured against.

Operations Manager

Rajan Singh

Uday's son. Degree in construction management from BCIT. Runs scheduling, client communications, and subcontractor relationships day-to-day.

Site Superintendent

Mike Tran

18 years in residential construction. Leads the on-site crew for new builds and major renovations. Known for keeping a clean, safe, and organised job site.
